1. The illusive elf maiden

She ran with feet like wings
Fleeing as quickly as her feet
Could carry her small frame.

I attempted to follow her
But the chase seemed
Pathetically futile on my part.

Just as I thought that I might
Give up on this tiring escapade
The forest broke open in front of me.

Many others like her, with golden
Flowing locks and beautiful
Ocean blue eyes scattered around.

There was a great tree in the center
Glowing silver and teeming with life
They all seemed to radiate around it.

The elf maiden turned to me then,
A smiled playing wildly on her face
And she tentatively whispered to me.

“Welcome home, my love.
You are the only one who ever
Followed me this far.”

2. The Cat and the Elf

The black cat sleeps,
In the pale moonlight,
And the elves come out at night!

Dancing and twirling,
And swaying and swirling,
As Elves are known to do!

A fat little elf,
All full of himself,
Said I can jump, can you?

He jumped over the cat,
But he was so fat,
That he landed on the black cat's tail!

Up jumped the cat,
On the elves he spat,
And a brawl did then ensue!

Now such a fight,
In the pale moonlight,
And I swear this tale is true!

Said a faerie, looking on,
This will last until dawn,
Is there something we can do?

Why yes, said a witch,
I will just make a switch,
And so she waved her wand!

Now under the moon,
It's a different tune,
Much better I would say!

Now the Elves sleep all night,
In the pale moonlight,
But the cats come out to play!

3. Elven Spring

Joyous elf, fair harbinger of fair spring!
Thou that looseth the bond of winter
From off our iced souls.
Give us drink of thy silver chalice
Fill’d with radiant sunlit fire.
Shining elf, star-sparkled eyes!
Flow’r entwined hair shimmering with light,
Soft spring e’er caresses thy cheek,
Whose scent is sweeter than rain.
Bright elf, thou happy heart!
Bringer of sight to the snow-blind,
Ope’ our eyes to the tender greens
Of newborn grass and leafing trees.
And when thou hast caused us to see
Be thou the merry fool
That we may learn to cavort with thee!
Ye dance below the mooned sky,
‘Neath the jealous moon
That would he were as bright as thee!
And when the tide turns to summer-song
Pipe the glad flute at thy cheery lips
And skip ‘twixt the legs of trembling fawns.

4. Elven Silence

The lady wearing silver calls but I don't hear a thing
The Lady waits as I stand watching wild running wind
And spirits call as the rivers sing
The forest quiet and dark
I search the world without success
I try to find my mark

Magic is leaving, the world. It is an unpleasant sight
I fear what it has become but cannot find the light

The voices in my head are calling and I still hear the rivers sing
The lady waits as I stand watching wild running wind
But with my family gone I fear the mortals wrath
My kin has had no chance to figure out the math

it all begins
when the one
becomes the all
and the all become the many
from the song
becomes the sound
and the sound
becomes the plenty
but the plenty
became the more
and the more
become the reason
kin turned against kinkind
It wasn't reason

Now it was Treason
and so began the war
the blood runs thickly
the mortal mind
it craves
to know
the season
and spirit self's
all come in time
to guide
to road
to freedom

some take the harm
and make it worse

the clouds of gas

that I can hear

that they are singing

I have been there for you

into being

every word

in your deepest dreams

when everyone
was shouting more

not everyone

and most have homes
where wanderers
are not alone
to have a friend
on which to call
where light is worn
and heart agrees

6. Alike

Sitting quietly in a tree.
To be unseen by you and me.
Celebrating the spring's blossoms.
With the rabbits, raccoons and opossums.
Waiting for summer to soon be here.
When they can swim, dance and cheer.
With their big expressive eyes.
Looking to the beautiful, bright blue skies.
With faces brighter than the sun.
Just itching to have some fun.
They really are no different than ourselves.
All of these nimble little Elves.

You can write a story about a Phoenix, [Alexi Ice]. Other stories have been written. At this point, I would just like to see some good writing, whether, from a single writer or a group. :) *ish hopeful*

2008-11-10 [Artsieladie]: Hmm..... no answer, yet, [Dark Side of the Moon]? I'm sorry about this. Real life issues for folks. I've never had a problem with entrants posting more than one. It was suggested, however, that the poetry be limited to one entry allowed because the art entries are, but to my knowledge, nothing definite was decided. I'll try to see that you get a more definite answer than this. ;P

This is a big part of my thinking as well, so I'm very glad you said it. :D Besides, I personally am not in favour of limitations and try not to invoke them if there is no need to. ...And it's not like we are bombarded with poetry in these sessions. ;) I would love it if we were, most certainly! :)

2008-11-23 [windowframe]: I'm going to say no more than more than three entries per person for poetry. Mitsuki, I don't think the crew voting has anything to do with it, and I don't really see how it would make a difference, either way. And I can't say I'm too fond of the idea that quantity improves your chances of winning. Quality all the way. ;)

Not sure I agree there. :P In my experience, the content of the picture seems to matter far more to people. For instance, gay love = instant win on an MS poll, regardless of style, or so it seems.

2008-11-30 [windowframe]: But why? :/ There's no reason to do so, and it's just not very nice to the other person at all, since to other people then it looks like they're talking to themselves. It tends to leave the other person looking stupid.

Mostly because I don't like looking at the large white boxes that come up, and because I backtrack through my conversations sometimes...I wont do it to you, if it offends you. Though so far, no one else has even noticed it, besides you and Artsie.

2008-12-01 [Alexi Ice]: I look back through and decide that I don't like my comments, or that I don't want people reading what I have written so I delete them. In some cases, if I have comments on a page that I don't intend to return to, I also delete all my comments there as well.

...The robbery comment hardly makes sense...it is not like I am stealing somthing precious, just revoking what I have previously said.

The robbery comment makes perfect sense, but you're taking it too literally. Robbery is rude. But your comment of 'oh, well no one notices' implied that if people don't notice, then it doesn't matter. My analogy is pointing out that it does.

And maybe I do consider intelligent conversation precious, and my deleting it you're "stealing" it from me by not letting me ever read it again.

2008-12-01 [Alexi Ice]: I don't know what you want from me. It's done, and our conversation (about this subject) is less than meaningless and getting us no where fast. I will continue to do as I wish, and you will continue to be annoyed by my actions until either you begin to not care or I decide to stop doing what I do.

It does make a little sense, I guess but...honestly is it that big of a deal? Did I injure your pride or something? And if people don't notice, then who does it matter too exactly? Besides you, who seem to be making a huge deal out of something that is...quite frankly, irreversible in the first place.

I'm not continually annoyed by your actions and quite frankly, I don't think I'm making a "huge deal" about it. We've having a conversation. Allow me to point out that conversations take two people, if I am making a "huge deal" out of it by simply continuing the conversation, then logically, so are you. I think you are reading angry tones into my comments that simply aren't there. :/

I like to discuss things with people. I like to talk about things, even if, god forbid, we should have dissenting opinions (actually, especially if they have dissenting opinions, makes it all the more interesting). I like to understand why the other person has their opinion, because I just find stuff like that interesting. I'm sorry I did not realise my pursuit of knowledge was quite so repulsive to you, and now that I know, I assure you I shall make every effort never inflict it upon you again. You seem to be the one upset here, not I. So I apologise for upsetting you.

It's not that, its just that I don't like to be cross examined. I do what I do because it is what I do, and that is just it. I would rather have a conversation about something that doesn't involve myself, or the intentions behind my actions if you don't mind.

I don't mind talking, or arguing, or conversating or whatever, don't get me wrong.

2008-12-01 [windowframe]: I find that to be a very limited conversation, if I can't ask you what your beliefs are about anything, or can't bring them up in a conversation. I wasn't cross-examining you. I wouldn't even be allowed to ask you how you are. How your day has been, your opinion on anything, not even if you liked my new sweater.

2009-02-13 [Artsieladie]: About a week after the Valentine winners they'll be announnced, but I'm working on the updating of the ECM pages and the Art, Photography, and Writing donor pages. The badges to the participants and winners will probably be delivered before a news item gets posted, however. I realise this has taken awhile, but getting votes has been a long road, and I still wish more votes had been gotten. ;P
